Daniel "Dan" Anthony Mitchell

Daniel “Dan” Anthony Mitchell, 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024 in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Dan was born on February 9, 1952, in Witherbee, NY. He was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country for 2 years. He worked for the Saddleback School District in California doing what he truly loved, landscaping. He relocated to MS in 1993 and was employed as a slot tech at the Grand Casino and as maintenance at Woodland Village Nursing Center.

Dan, affectionally known as “Papa”, spent his early retirement years spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved everything sports and spent a lot of his time cheering on the NY Giants football team. Dan enjoyed fishing at Lincoln Pond and eating his favorite Mexican food. Dan donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital for the last 15 years.

He is preceded in death by his son, Tom Mitchell; his father, Elmer Mitchell, his mother Elizabeth Ruth Mitchell, his sister Pat Sprague and his brothers, Jim Mitchell, Paul Mitchell, Phil Mitchell, Bobby Mitchell, and Gerald Mitchell.

He is survived by his former wife of 18 years, Minnie Mitchell; daughters, Lisa Karlsson (Anders), Melissa Mitchell, Niki Mitchell Frost (Dean) and Ashley Mitchell; step-son, Sam Soto; his sisters, Mary Jane Marcil and Sue Sphur; grandchildren, Danny Wadley, Olivia Karlsson, Liam Karlsson, Levi Mitchell, Tomee Mitchell Jr., Zachary Thomas, Landen Racine, Carson Thomas, Madeline Frost, Elizabeth Frost and Remi White; great grandchild Kei’moni Anthony Thomas Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 6pm on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit one hour prior.
