Mr. Daniel "Danny" Suggs, T/Sgt. U.S. Air Force Retired, age 73, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Monday, March 21, 2005, in Ocean Springs. Danny was born on August 28, 1931, in Anniston, AL. He began his career with the government by enlisting in the Air Force in May of 1949. He served until January of 1971. Danny began a civil service career in May of 1971 with the United States Post Office. He then transferred to Keesler Air Force Base where he was assigned as an instructor until retirement in November of 1990. While serving his country he also served in Jackson County as a volunteer, first as an EMT and then ambulance driver with Rescue 4. Danny also volunteered with the Sheriffs' Reserve where he held the rank of Captain and was their training officer. He was also a member of McLeod Masonic Lodge in Ocean Springs, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Gulfport and a charter member of Joppa Shrine Temple in Biloxi. Danny was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Daniel Suggs and Daisy Wright Suggs, a son, Brian Keith Suggs, and a brother, Leonard Suggs. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Opal Walker Suggs of Ocean Springs, two daughters, Commander Deborah Kruciak of Virginia Beach, VA., and Tracey Lynn Suggs of Atlanta, GA., a son, Gregory Alan Suggs of Ocean Springs, three grandsons, Jesse Alan Suggs of Ocean Springs, Matthew Thomas Kruciak of Virginia Beach, VA., and Adam Keith Suggs of Slidell, LA, two brothers, Lavern Suggs of Bishop, Texas, and Welborn Suggs of Anniston, AL., and a sister, Frances Martin of Bynum, AL. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 24, 2005, from 6-9 PM, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Friday, March 25, 2005, there will be a 2 PM chapel service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park with full military honors and masonic rites. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals, 13280 New Highway 67, Biloxi, MS., 39532.
