Danny Ray Lizana

Danny Ray Lizana passed away peacefully after a long illness in his childhood home in Lizana, MS on April 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born at Camp LeJeune Marine Base, Jacksonville, North Carolina, to Gerald J & Betty Lou Lizana Jones and was their third son.

Everyone loved Danny. His Aunt Sis (Julia) was his very devoted and honorary mother from the time he was four years old. He loved to go to the annual twenty-two-mile-long flea market in Alabama with his late wife LaVonne. Danny had a tender heart for anyone that needed anything. All of his nieces and nephews and younger cousins loved spending time with him and have so many stories of him.

He was a long-term employee of Walmart until 2015, where he and his late wife LaVonne met after Hurricane Katrina   They both helped reopen the new store on Highway 90 in Pass Christian, MS.

Danny was preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne Hankins Lizana; his brother, Jason Giles Lizana; brother-in-law Robert (Robby) Osborne; his grandparents, Fred (PawPaw) & Etha Lizana (Granny) & Hilton & Clarise Odom; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He leaves behind his father, Gerald J Lizana, of Gulfport, MS; his mother, Betty Lou Jones (Len) of Dayton, TX; lifelong honorary mother, Julia (Sis) Lizana; brother, Micheal Lizana; sisters Tammie Lizana Osborne (Bill), Angela Lizana, step-sister Paulette Reed (Ron) of Baytown, TX; four nephews, Robert Harrison (Dannielle) of Louisiana, Ronnie Roark of Shore Acres, TX, James Roark (Tifeni) of LaPorte, TX, Cody Lizana of Pass Christian, MS; one niece, Courtney Necaise of Pass Christian, MS, five great- nephews, Robert Harrison (Robert & Danielle) of Louisiana, Wyatt Roark, Benjamin Roark, Jerry Roark, Zachary Roark, (James & Tifeni) all of Laporte, TX.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2026, at St Ann Catholic Church, 23529 Highway 53, Lizana, MS, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. followed by a mass at 2:00 p.m.  Danny will be laid to rest at Wolf River Cemetery next to his baby brother and paternal grandparents.
