Darlene Gigl Council

Darlene Gigl Council, age 77, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in Ocean Springs.

Born on March 25, 1948, in McKinney, Texas, Darlene was the daughter of William and Dorothy Stevens Gigl. She grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and graduated from Biloxi High School. Darlene will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, momma, and grammie whose greatest joy was her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Gigl; her brother, David Gigl; her stepson, Joseph Council; and her grandson, Matthew Hopland.

Darlene is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas “Ed” Council; her daughters, Sandy (David) Marini, Susan Kostmayer, and Sharon (Mike) Chartrand; her sister, May (Lloyd) Sumner; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:00 am.
