David Michael Jahn, age 30, of Gulfport, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025.
David was born on October 23, 1995, in Grayslake, IL. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Iowa State University in December 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a minor in General Business. David joined the United States Navy and received his commission through Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island in May 2019.
Upon graduating from Civil Engineer Corps Officer School (CECOS) with Basic Class 267 in October 2019, LT Jahn served as a Construction Management Engineer for Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division (FEAD) Camp Butler, Okinawa, Japan where he successfully managed over $81M in construction contracts. In December 2021, LT Jahn reported to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton where he served as an Assistant Public Works Officer until July 2024. LT Jahn reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) ONE in August 2024 where he immediately deployed to Rota, Spain and served as the Rota Construction Company Commander until March 2025. LT Jahn also served as the Waterfront Construction Company Two (WCC2) Commander. LT Jahn is a registered Engineer in Training in the state of Iowa and has attained both his Public Works Department Level II and DAWIA Contracting Professional certifications. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement.
David enjoyed flying small planes, scuba diving, gardening, and visiting small off the beaten path towns.
David is survived by his wife, Taylor Jahn and their expected child; parents, Eric and Susan Jahn; and siblings, Emily Kowalczyk (Steele) and Alexander Jahn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at St. Peter’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church. Friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. A second service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Gurnee, IL, with a visitation starting at 8:30 a.m. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the family of LT David Michael Jahn.
