David Michael Jahn, age 30, of Gulfport, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025.
David was born on October 23, 1995, in Grayslake, IL. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Iowa State University in December 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a minor in General Business.
David proudly followed in his grandfather's footsteps and joined the United States Navy in May 2019, receiving his commission through Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He went on to graduate from Civil Engineer Corps Officer School (CECOS), Basic Class 267, in October 2019.
His first assignment took him to FEAD Camp Butler in Okinawa, Japan, where he served as a Construction Management Engineer and skillfully oversaw more than $81 million in construction projects. In December 2021, he reported to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, serving as an Assistant Public Works Officer until July 2024.
In August 2024, David reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) ONE, deploying shortly thereafter to Rota, Spain. There, he served as the Rota Construction Company Commander until March 2025 and later as the Waterfront Construction Company Two (WCC2) Commander.
David was a registered Engineer in Training in the state of Iowa and earned both his Public Works Department Level II and DAWIA Contracting Professional certifications. His dedication and excellence were recognized through personal decorations that include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
David enjoyed flying small planes, scuba diving, gardening, and visiting small off the beaten path towns. He earned his pilot’s license and was working toward his instrument rating.
David loved life, and especially the life he shared with his bride and family. He embraced adventure, learning, and travel, and he was guided always by faith, service, and, most of all, love.
