David was born in Picayune, MS, and a graduate of Biloxi High School and attended college at Ole Miss. In high school he was in the band and played the trumpet and French horn, first chair. He started out working as a clerk at a convenience store, and was the manager for Jr. Food Mart’s Fuel and Facilities operations in Jackson, MS. David spent over 25 years of employment with Jr. Food Mart, and due to receive a service award.
David was an avid fisherman and loved fishing on the Reservoir in Jackson. He was also an accomplished horticulturist and gardener at his apartment complex in Ridgeland, where David grew award winning roses and splendid tomatoes for everyone in the complex.
Friday night was always a special night for David when he would enjoy a hot pizza after a long day of work with his best friend, Dale Chain. David never met a stranger and was kind to anyone and everyone that ever crossed his path. He had a great love for his sister “Susie”, and was always willing to lend a hand if needed. David was fond of his beloved pets, his dogs, named Jacob and Kolby. He was also especially fond of his beautiful parrot, Freddie. David was a lover of all types of animals and also had large fish tanks of beautiful fish.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Emilie Hebert Meyers, and brother, Steven James Meyers.
Survivors include his father, Dave Meyers of D’Iberville, MS, Aunt Thelma Hebert of Lafayette, LA, and his beloved sister, Linda “Susie” (Jeffrey Lynn) Savin of D’Ibverville, nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Services will be held at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home of Biloxi on Saturday, December 30th, 2017. Friends may visit from 1:30 to 3 pm. Funeral ceremony will be at 3 pm.
