David Rufus Theriot

David Rufus Theriot, 56, of Vancleave, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 3:28 p.m. in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

David was born on October 22, 1969, in Morgan City, Louisiana, to Alfred Joseph Theriot Sr. and Mae Elizabeth Hill Theriot. He graduated from St. Martin High School in 1989.

David dedicated 31 years of his life as a truck driver. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his excellence and safety, receiving the Driver Safety Award, the 1 Million Miles with No Accidents Award from US Express, and a certificate from the Governor for heroically assisting in the delivery of a baby on the side of the road.

He enjoyed a wide range of hobbies and interests, including model trains, 80’s rock and roll, watching comedy movies and stand-up comedy, reading, drawing, and building model train layouts. David also had a passion for making others laugh, working as a handyman, and even spending time researching and searching for Bigfoot.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred J. Theriot Sr. and Mae Elizabeth Hill Theriot; his niece, Heaven Leigh Elizabeth Barlow; and his nephew, Jonathon Adam Barlow.

He is survived by his siblings, Darlene Theriot, Matilda “Little Mae” Theriot, Edward Gay V, Dawn Jacobs, and Alfred “Petey” Theriot; his nephews, Joey Theriot III, Joshua Barlow, Jacob Barlow, James Barlow, Jason Barlow, and Justin Barlow; and his niece, Hannah Theriot. He is also survived by his great-nephews, Liam Barlow, Liam Fraser, and Elias Barlow; and his great-nieces, Kinsleigh Barlow, Stella Barlow, Lainey Barlow, and Waverly Barnard.

Visitation will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi on Howard Avenue on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a service beginning at 3:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 2, 2026, with time and location to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
