David Scott Walker

David Scott Walker, age 55, passed away at his home Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, in Gulfport, MS, of natural causes. Born July 19, 1966, Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Gay Nell Dees Walker; and is survived by his father, Ferdinand “Ferdie” Walker; brother, Ferdinand “Rusty” Walker; sister-in-law, Cori Walker; sister, Stacy Walker Seal; and brother-in-law, Joe Seal. Scott graduated from Gulfport High School after attending both Bayou View Elementary and Bayou View Jr. High schools.

Scott, as the family called him, or David, as others knew him, was an unassuming man. He traveled the US extensively and spent several years in the Pacific Northwest. He served the army in Germany and toured Europe with friends and occasionally family, too. Scott worked most of his adult life in construction trades and owned Veteran’s Window Cleaning Service. He loved classic rock and R & B music and played drums and guitar in several church bands. Scott, usually understated, was well-read and often surprised everyone with his sharp wit and quick comebacks.

A kind and generous soul, Scott had a heart for people. He provided rides for those who needed assistance getting to medical appointments. During Hurricane Katrina, he swam bed-ridden residents out of their Biloxi apartments. An army veteran himself, Scott had a heart for veterans and those who were homeless. He was a craftsman and made walking sticks, letter openers, and other items he donated to those living in veteran homes.

Scott delighted in water sports, boating, and fishing. Growing up, he spent summers in Pascagoula, enjoying time with cousins, family, and friends playing on the water. Whether water skiing, fishing, or taking island trips, the water remained his life-long love.

The family will remember Scott as always willing to help, warm-hearted, and the comedy relief at any gathering! Scott would have appreciated your support of community mental health, the American Diabetes Association, or the Open Doors Homeless Coalition.
