David "Dave" Wayne Lucas, age 44, of Saucier, died Monday, January 31, 2011 at the University of South Alabama Medical Center. David was born in Lawrence, Kansas and was a longtime resident of the Gulf Coast. Dave had battled squamous cell carcinoma since 2004-2005. He was a loyal state employee working for MRHA in Lucedale as a maintenance mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Carol Lucas as well as numerous friends.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Lucas; his daughters, Hailee Brackett, Courtney Brackett, and Katelyn Lucas, his son, David Lucas II, his step-sons, Brandon Ball, and Bradly Ball; a grandson, Cayden; his brothers, Richard Lucas (Arlene) and John Lucas; his sister, Debbie Keys (Jimmy); brothers-in-law, Stephen Mills, Jr. (Stephanie) and Jason Mills (Laura); his nieces and nephews, Maria, Arron, Chase, Ricky, Brandie, Amy, Danny Ray, Bo, Casey, Nicholas, Trisha, Nila, and Jase. David was also survived by many many friends acquired in his days.
David was a devoted husband, a proud father, a strong brother, a new grandpa, and a hard worker. He was a outstanding man in each and every way. His years with us were few but the memories he made were many. His greatest joys were fatherhood, fishing, and hunting . He will be greeted with love by all those who preceded him and he will be missed by all those that have had to say "goodbye Dave…you are forever our Superman".
The visitation will be held Friday, February 4, 2011 from 5:30 until 9:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport. The funeral service is Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment follows at Coalville Cemetery.
