Demetrius Edward "Mitch" Mize

Demetrius Edward “Mitch” Mize, 71, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026. He was born July 13, 1954.

Mitch was a long-time resident of the Gulf Coast after moving from Clinton, MS in high school. He graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1972. After working at local hair salons on the Coast, he opened his own business in Biloxi in the 1980's. In that line of work he made numerous lifelong friends and was a proud Gulf Coast resident who enjoyed boating and spending time on the water with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Compton.

He is survived by his sister, Debbie Daughtry of Birmingham, Alabama; and his Aunt Florence Culbertson of Brookhaven, Mississippi; and many Mississippi cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Vital Care Hospice for the loving service they provided to Mitch. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mitch’s name to Vital Care.
