Diana Maria Mayfield passed away on July 14, 2026, at the age of 71, in Ocean Springs, MS.

She was born on July 4, 1955, and was known for her vibrant sense of humor. Diana had a fulfilling career as a Licensed Practical Nurse and dedicated many years of service before retiring from the United States Naval Home. Her commitment to caring for others was evident both professionally and personally. She graduated from Elizabeth H. Keyes High School and furthered her education at Jackson Community College, which solidified her path in nursing. Beyond her professional pursuits, Diana enjoyed collecting vintage items and gardening.

 She is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Melinda Mayfield-Hill, and son-in-law, Patrick Hill; grandson Chase Hill; great-granddaughter Serenity Holley; and her son, Michael Mayfield Jr. She also leaves behind her brothers, Gary, Charles, Douglas McMiller, and Raymond Buxton, Jr., as well as her closest aunt, Mary Washington.

 Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Mayfield Sr., her mother, Willie Mae Buxton, and her stepfather, Raymond Buxton, Sr. In accordance with her final wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home prepared her body, and a private family gathering will be held to honor her memory. Diana’s life and legacy will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
