Dianna Elizabeth Zinn, known to her friends as “DZ”, passed away the morning of February 14, 2016 in Ocean Springs Hospital after suffering sudden complications. She was 76 years old.
Dianna was born April 11, 1939 and married Donald Hartley Hitchcock, Jr after graduation in 1957. She proudly served our military in the 1957-58 in the decryption division of the US Air Force.
She was always a strong, determined woman. As a single mother of three, she finished her education in the late 60’s and early 70’s, often working two jobs as she continued her studies. She then worked her way up as an accountant with many firms across the coast, including Frigitemp and Booze Allen.
In her prime Ms. Zinn was an active volunteer with many coastal churches and aide organizations. As a fervent animal lover, Dianna supported the efforts of many of the gulf coast’s animal support groups, especially the Humane Society. She took in many lost or injured animals and helped to find homes after their recovery.
From a young age, Dianna enjoyed painting, embroidery, gardening, sewing, and most recently, “blinging out” anything she could get her hands on. She also took great pride in her spiritual gifts which she always used to help those in need. Her greatest joy in life was time and connection with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dianna is survived by her three children, (Mark, Garnet, and Jon), her four grandchildren, (Rachel, Bishop, Victoria, and Jessica), her six great-grandchildren, an abundance of nieces and nephews, and numerous friends around the world too numerous to count.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, February 20, from 2:30 pm until 4:00 pm, with a 4:00 pm Memorial Service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. There will be an open house gathering afterwards at 8200 Groveland Rd. in Ocean Springs. Since we are gathering to remember a vibrant, colorful personality, please wear your brightest, most colorful wardrobe in her honor.
Also, in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to either the Wounded Warrior Project, or your local Humane Society.
