It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Diane O. Lenhart Shelton, a devoted wife, mother, cherished daughter, beloved sister, and faithful friend, who left us on November 8, 2024, at the age of 74. She is survived by her daughters, Cheri (Don) Cole, Norma (Ryan) McLain; sister, Donna Lenhart; and brother, Doug Lenhart; three grandchildren, Haleigh (Austin) Black and Ethan McLain, Benjamin Cole; and a great-grandchild Carter Jackson Black who were the absolute lights of her life and her proudest accomplishment.
Born on March 9th, 1950, in Grandview, Missouri, Diane grew up in a family full of love, laughter, and enduring bonds. From a young age, she showed a generous spirit and boundless compassion that touched everyone she encountered.
As a mother, Diane was unwavering in her love, support, and dedication. Her daughters were her heart and soul. She guided them with wisdom, patience, and a boundless sense of wonder for life. She took joy in the simple moments, whether helping with school activities, curling up for cherished family movie nights, or spending countless hours talking. Her legacy lives on in the strength, kindness, and laughter she instilled in her daughters, who will carry her spirit forward in all they do.
Beyond her role as a mother, Diane was a friend to many. She could be counted on for her assistance, warmth, vibrant laugh, and innate ability to make anyone feel heard and loved. She leaves behind her family, friends, and a community that will forever feel and miss her love and kindness.
We will gather to celebrate the life of this remarkable woman who gave so much to so many and loved so deeply.
A visitation will be held at Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home - Pass Road Chapel in Biloxi on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 5-7 pm. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 18th, 2024, at Biloxi National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, the love of her life, Harry J. Shelton Jr.
As we say goodbye, we honor her memory by remembering to give freely of ourselves, love fiercely, and cherish each moment, just as she did every day. We will miss her more than words can express, but we are grateful for the gift of her life and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
