Donald A. Howell, 77, of Biloxi, MS died Sunday, January 22, 2012 in Biloxi. Donald served in the Navy from 1954-1958 as a medical corpsman to include duty in Korea. He was a 1952 graduate of Biloxi High School and he was a member of the Demolay Organization and the marching band and concert band. He graduated from Mississippi College in 1965. His first year at Howard College (Samford) in Birmingham, Alabama, he received the prestigious "Rho Chi" award from the Honorary Pharmaceutical Society for academic excellence. He graduated from Howard College in 1975, finishing first in his class with a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy. He was owner and operator of two pharmacies; Economy Discount Drugs in Biloxi and Pas Point Drugs in Moss Point. Donald was a pharmacist for over 40 years and worked in numerous drug stores along the coast. Donald was a Methodist by faith and belonged to the original First United Methodist Church in the 1940's when it was located on Main Street. He is preceded in death by his parents, Amel and Irene Howell; and sister, Emelda Howell Britvec. Survivors include sons, Patrick Howell and Robert Howell; daughters, Catherine Howell Davis, Melissa Howell Olsen, Anita Howell Coyle (Joe) and Stephanie Howell McAdams (Gordon); sisters, Patricia Howell Breslin (Richard) and Linda Howell Kennedy; brothers, Walter Howell (Ann) and Stephen Howell; grandchildren, Thomas Davis, Taylor Olsen, Madison Olsen, Bradley Hagmann, Lindsey Hagmann, Colin McAdams and Sarah McAdams; one very special cousin, Bobby Moran, who was like another brother to him; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Biloxi First United Methodist Church, 14220 Hwy. 67 North, Biloxi, MS 39532. Honorary pall bearers will be Summerfield Swetman, Bobby Lockett, Bobby Moran, Jimmy Whittington, Louis Gorenflo and Paul White. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with service following at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi. Interment will follow at the Biloxi City Cemetery.
