Donald Allen Smith

Donald A. Smith, age 60, of Ocean Springs passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2008 in Ocean Springs. Don was a native of Mississippi and a resident of Ocean Springs for the past 26 years. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, University of Mississippi Law School and joined the Mississippi State Bar Association in 1972. He spent his lifetime in public service, culminating as a public defender for Jackson County. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betty Smith of Ocean Springs; his daughter and son-in-law, Majors Amanda and Nathan Myers, serving in the United States Air Force, currently living in Omaha, NE; his son, Skye Smith of Ocean Springs; grandchildren, Morgan and Dylan Myers of Omaha, NE; his brother, Gerald Smith and his wife, Claire of Cedar Falls, IA; sister, Jan McGahey and her husband, Charles of Johnson City, TN along with many other loving family members and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with an ELKS service at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Ocean Springs. A private interment will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ELKS National Foundation or Christus Victor Lutheran Church.
