Donald “Don” O. Everett, of Gulfport, MS died Monday, May 11, 2026, at his home. He was born January 22, 1932, to Charles Thomas and Marie (Usey) Everett, who preceded him in death. Don married the love of his life, Nancy Lynn Everett, on July 19, 2002, who survives the home.
Don joined the United States Marine Corps at 17 years of age and retired after 22 years of service as a MSGT-E8. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After his military career, he started a new career in law enforcement rising to the rank of Detective Lieutenant. Don worked for many years in law enforcement. He graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA and attended William Carey University graduating with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
Don is survived by his wife, Nancy Lynn Everett; four sons, Ralph Everett (Pam), Glenn Everett (Nancey), Chris Pierce, Marty Moore (Jami); two daughters, Misty Gaffin (Bryan), Mandy Greer (Bobby) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Don was the most loving and devoted man to his family. He always had a fun time telling stories of the past and he could always bring smiles and laughs with his humor. Don was indeed “one of a kind” and he made life brighter for everyone around him. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
Don was preceded in death by three brothers, Allen “Pat” Everett, Thomas “TJ” Everett, and Ralph Everett; two sisters, Marie Phelps, Thelma Glazier and one son, Jeremy Pierce. He was also preceded in death by a special nephew, Thomas “TJ” Everett.
A private prayer service will be held. Services and interment will take place at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
