Donna Frances Reiter

Donna Frances Reiter of Gautier, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 at her residence on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 7, 1933. She was the daughter of George and Loretta (Wheeler) Bonn.

Donna was the valedictorian of Waite High School and attended the University of Toledo. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Donna was an active and longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Gautier and was especially known for being part of the Pie Ladies. Donna promoted May Friendship Day, National Day of Prayer and many other ecumenical groups and activities.

She was a spectacular mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all. Donna never met a stranger. She enjoyed all of nature including gardening, fishing, boating and was an avid bird watcher. She was the queen of repurposing everything. She was always learning new things, reading books and enjoyed crosswords. Donna was a faithful Jeopardy fan, had a sharp wit and always had chocolate or candy to share.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George & Loretta Bonn; sister, Georgia Smith; and son-in-law, Joseph Closson.

Donna will be deeply missed by her husband of 72 years, Ronald Reiter; son, Terence Reiter; son, Richard Reiter; daughter, Rhonda Closson; son, Jeffrey (Samantha Masten) Reiter; grandchildren, Jesse Reiter, Daniel Reiter, Cody Smit, Lacey (James) Cooper, Derek (Allison Fonda) Lester, Roxanne (Seth) Ratner, Sarah Closson, Ava (Maximiliano) Guerrero, Macy Closson; great-grandchildren, Tyler Reiter, Kristian Reiter, Leland Reiter, Colten Cooper, Harper Cooper, Daphne Ratner and Felix Ratner. There are many extended family members some of whom are Debbie Fluke, Suzi Smit Reiter, Kathleen Lester, Grace Markley, Steven (Micki) Smith and family, Kathleen (Raymond) Albright and family and of course her church and community family. She will also be missed by her feline companion, Pip.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm followed by a celebration of life at the First United Methodist Church of Gautier, 2717 US-90, Gautier, MS 39553.
