Donnie Jean Lowery Beaugez

Sep 29, 1936 — Sep 1, 2026

Ocean Springs

Donnie Jean Lowery Beaugez, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on September 29, 1936, in Isola, Mississippi. She was one of three children born to Corine and Pete Lowery and was the sister of Thomas J. Lowery and Barbara Kurpier.

In 1954, Donnie Jean married Raymond “Big Boy” Beaugez. Together, they began their life in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where they made their home and raised their family.

Donnie Jean and Raymond were blessed with four children: Susan Carlat, Stephen Beaugez, Timonthy (Sharon) Beaugez, and Sharon (Greg) Marbury. Her family was the center of her life, and she was a proud Mawmaw to six grandchildren.

Donnie Jean will be remembered for her kindness, strength, sense of humor, generosity, and faith. She found great joy in cooking for those she loved. Her Magnalite pot was rarely filled for only the six chairs around her table. She always made plenty, knowing that family and friends might stop by to gather, share a meal, and enjoy time together.

Holidays were especially memorable at Mawmaw’s house. Christmas meant a beautiful tree from Redmond’s Christmas Tree Farm filling the living room, surrounded by gifts thoughtfully chosen for each child. She and Pawpaw may not have had a lot of money, but that never kept her from making the holidays special. She knew how to make a little go a long way, turning simple things into something meaningful and making sure there was always enough to share.

She was truly one of a kind. She taught each of us things that were important to her—how to sew, how to iron, how to cook, and, perhaps most importantly, how to laugh and enjoy the simple things in life. Her home was a place where people felt welcome. She brought family and friends together through her cooking, her humor, and her generous spirit. The lessons she taught and the traditions she created will live on in the generations that follow her.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Wendy Beaugez Welch for all that she has done to care for and support her Aunt Donnie. Her love and devotion have been deeply appreciated.

Donnie Jean was preceded in death by her son, Stephen; her husband, Raymond; her brother, Thomas J.; and her parents, Corine and Pete Lowery. She is survived by her three children, six grandchildren, her sister, Barbara Kurpier, and nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and dear friends.

Her family will forever cherish the laughter, lessons, recipes, holidays, and countless moments shared with her. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the traditions she passed down, the meals made from her recipes, and the love she taught us to share with one another.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Lord Is My Help in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, in Donnie Jean’s memory. Donations may be dropped off Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

She always helped others in times of need, and giving to those who are struggling would be a fitting tribute to her life and the compassion she showed to others.
