Doris Robinson Hampton, 92, went to her heavenly home on January 10, 2018 in Gulfport, Mississippi where she had resided since 1987. Prior to 1987 she resided in North Carolina.
Grandma Doris, as she was lovingly called, was born in Supply, NC on August 25, 1925. She was the daughter of Harry and Florence Robinson. She is predeceased by her parents, her son, William “Butch” Allen, and her brothers, Elwood Robinson and Gerald “Jack” Robinson. She is survived by her children, Ronald Gary Allen (Wanda) and Deborah Allen Bowden (Noble) of Gulfport, Ms; her grandchildren, Ronald Gary Allen, Jr., Maj. Christi Allen Hauke, Deborah Kelly Romero, Stephen Scott Thompson, and Nicholas Bonilla Allen; and her great grandchildren, Jessie Allen, Anna Christina Allen, Lainey Romero, Dallas Romero, Miguel Allen, Sophia Allen, Tatum Thompson, and Eli Thompson, and by many nieces and nephews and her brother, Roni Robinson, and her sister, SuAnne Robinson Gore (both of Clinton, North Carolina).
Doris was raised in coastal North Carolina among a large extended family of Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. After graduation from Shallotte High School, she married at eighteen, had her three children and later went to work at Sears, Roebuck & Company where she worked for 28 years and retired at the Fayetteville location in 1987. She then moved to South Mississippi where she has since resided. Doris was an avid gardener with a beautiful landscape to show off her talents. She loved to travel and she loved being with family and friends. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport until her health prevented participation. Prior to her death she was a resident at Lakeview Nursing Home for four years.
Services will be in North Carolina where she will be interred in Fayetteville at Lafayette Memorial Cemetery. A private memorial service will be held in North Carolina with her family.
