Dorretta Mae Meekin

Dorretta Mae Meekin, 94, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away into God’s Kingdom on July 5, 2022.  She was born on November 9, 1927 in Huntington, IN where she spent the majority of her life.  She moved to Ocean Springs after her late husband Norman Dale Meekin died in 2001 to be with her only child Gregory Kent Meekin.  

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to so many. She will be missed greatly. She was known to spend the majority of her day praying for others and studying the Bible. She loved spending time with friends and family, especially Ida Mae, who she loved as her own daughter. She was a member of Grace Independent Baptist Church of Ocean Springs, MS.

Dorretta was preceded in death by her husband Norman Dale Meekin, her mother Edith Curtis (Dwight Curtis) and father Meredith Walter.

Her survivors include son Gregory Kent Meekin (Ida Mae);  granddaughters Ashley Meekin Johnson (Brian) and Sierra Meekin;  grandsons Tray Cherry (Shantel), Roy Tamex and four great-grandchildren Elizabeth Kent Johnson, Madeline Marie Johnson, Gregory Reed Johnson and Kate Elizabeth Cherry.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Independent Baptist Church located at 3707 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs, MS.  Lunch will be provided by the church following the service.

We all know she is in Heaven now, praise the Lord!
