Douglas Eric Denehie, 74 years old, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away Tuesday, September 24, at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, MS. Douglas was born July 19, 1950 in Paris, IL, to Robert Arther Denehie and Helma Holdaway Denehie.
Doug was 74 years old and a long-term resident of Ocean Springs. He was a specialist in the Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975. He worked at Mississippi Power for 2 years, then went on to work at Dupont for 19 years as a chemical lab technician in research and development. He retired from Dupont in 2005. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. As an excellent marksman, he participated in shooting competitions, and was a lifetime NRA member. Doug enjoyed politics and ran for city alderman on two occasions. He volunteered at local voting polls for 10 years and was very active in his community. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, William Hosey Jr.; and nephew, Michael Thigpen.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Robert (Becca ) Denehie and Frank (Rose) Spring; daughter, Deanna (Joe) Fernandez; brother Robert (Ana) Denehie; sister, Debbie (Charlie) Dale; and grandchildren, Zakary, Myles, Lillian, Landon, Mila, Scarlett, and Ronan; mother-in law, Evelyn Hosey; brother-in-law, Bill (Judi) Hosey, sisters-in-laws, Patricia (Mark) Wells, Kathleen (Kevin) Shaughnessey, Darlene (Bill) Nichols, Charlene (Kenny) Langlinais, Barbara Hosey, and Dianne (Steve) Nettles; and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to all his friends and family who cared for him. Also, thanks go out to Cornerstone Caregiving, his care team at Woodland Village and Singing River Hospital staff, and Hospice of Light.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. Friends may visit one-hour prior. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
