Douglas (Doug) Edward Gill was born on November 15, 1961 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was the only son to Thomas Edgar Gill and Suzanne Doris Newton (Gill).

Doug is survived by his wife, Hai Yan Gill (Wang); his sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Schultz (Schluter) and Susan Conn (Schluter); his sons, Thomas (TJ) and Richard Gill; and step-son, Nicholas Wittrock; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. His best friends were Richard LaBranche, Jeffrey Hopper, Robert White, and John Gallagher.

He is preceded in death by his dear sister, Colleen Palmer (Gill); and nephew, Robert Palmer.

He loved his friends and family very much. Doug graduated from Gulfport High School in 1980. He then went on to enlist into the United States Marine Corps which led to a career with 22 years of service. He retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Gunnery Sergeant and was very proud of this accomplishment. Doug then went on to work for Astronics Ballard Technology for 17 years and then an additional three years with AR Modular AF, both located in Washington State. Doug moved back to his home state of Mississippi in 2024. In his free time, Doug enjoyed fishing, placing bets at various casinos, hunting, and experiencing new restaurants and different foods. He was a lifelong New Orleans Saints fan as well.

He will be buried at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of your favorite charities. If you feel so inclined, raise a glass of your favorite beverage and pour a little off while you think of some of the good times you had with Doug.
