Dwight George Simon passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 following a hard fought battle with kidney and cardiac disease.
He is survived by his loving partner of 30 plus years, Wanda West; his daughter, Angie Simon Fields; his son, Jason Dwight Simon; his brother, Ward Simon; grandchildren, Matthew Simon Fields and Madeline Marie Fields; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friend, Mike Clayton.
Dwight was born in Reserve, Louisiana on September 4, 1945 to George Sylvester Simon and Bertha Periloux Simon. He was the third child born of four, preceded in death by his sisters, Gaynell Simon Faler and Joy Simon Ulrich.
Dwight joined the family business, Simon’s Refrigeration, in 1971 where he worked alongside his father until his death. Dwight continued the family business and became a well respected provider of commercial refrigeration. He formed long lasting relationships with restaurant owners along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the respect of many other refrigeration business owners. Dwight served as president of the Refrigeration Service Engineer Society (RSES), and helped mentor other young technicians developing their skills for refrigeration repair.
Dwight was a lover of football, especially the LSU tigers and was a season ticket holder, attending every game, rain, or shine, for over 20 years.
Funeral Services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in Biloxi on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 3:00 pm. Friends may visit from 1:00 pm until service time.
