Earl Brewer Wall, Jr, age 87, of Gulfport, Mississippi, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 26, 2025. He was a strong and loving father who modeled the care of his Heavenly Father well to his family.
Earl was born on November 1, 1937, in Osyka, Mississippi and was the oldest son of Earl “Brewer” Wall, Sr and Natilee Ernestine Prescott Wall.
He graduated from Osyka High School in 1955 where he was a member of the basketball team. Earl attended Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond, LA, and Southwest Junior College in Summit, Mississippi, where he also played basketball. He transferred to Mississippi Southern College (University of Southern Mississippi) in Hattiesburg, MS, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in both mathematics and physics in June of 1959. After graduation, Earl married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Marie Quin Wall, on September 4, 1959. They moved to Gulfport, Mississippi, and Earl began his career as an instructor at Keesler Air Force Base Technical School in Biloxi, Mississippi. In March of 1975, he moved out of the classroom and served as a training manager specialist. He held several other management positions while at Keesler, including holding the first Registrar position at the school and Chief of Resources. He retired in 1993 as the Chief of Avionics System Plans after 34 years of service as a government employee. During his time as a civil servant, he earned many accolades and awards for performance and service. Earl also honorably served his country in the Army National Guard for 6 years while working at Keesler and served a time of active duty as well. He was a long-time member of The American Legion. After his retirement, Earl was often found doing special projects for his neighbors such as mowing yards, building a doghouse, fixing bicycle chains, and keeping up the entrance landscape. Someone in neighborhood deemed him the “Honorary Mayor of Park Place”. He was an avid hiker and hiked a good portion of the Appalachian Trail as well as many other National and State Park trails while traveling the US with his wife, Gloria. Earl had a passion for serving the Lord and was an active member of First Baptist Church, Gulfport, for over 65 years where he served as a deacon, Transportation Committee chairman and in other various capacities in the church. He was also part of a team of men who served the church in clearing land in preparation for new church construction and provided disaster relief to the local church community.
Earl was preceded in death by his WIFE, Gloria Quin Wall; parents, Earl Brewer Wall, Sr and Natilee Ernestine Prescott Wall; stepmother, Betty Wall; two sisters, Patsy Wall Taylor and Barbara Wall; stepsister, Diane Sturdivant; step-brother, David Alford; brother in-law, Benton Taylor: two sister in-laws, Dianne Guy Wall and Dianne Sturdivant; and grandson, Ronnie Neil King, Jr.
He is survived by two daughters, Robyn Wall Eldridge(Gordon) of Sanford, FL and Renee Wall King (Ronnie) of Gulfport, MS; three grandchildren, Gordon Scott Eldridge, Jr (Taylor) of Sanford, FL, Kara King Necaise (Patrick) of Pass Christian, MS, and Courtney Eldridge Horner (Eric); three great-grandchildren, Levi Horner, Calla Eldridge and Noelle Horner all of Sanford, FL; brother, Percy Wall of Sunny Hill, LA, and sister, Teresa Wall Dixon (Jewel) of Pascagoula, MS, and sister in-law, Mary Alford of Mt Hermon, LA.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 1726 15th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501 followed by a graveside service and interment at 11:15 a.m. at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 8910 Carl Legett Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. Pastor Eric Smith of First Baptist Church, Gulfport, will be officiating. The pallbearers will be Gordon Eldridge, Ronnie King, Jewel Dixon, Buck Franklin, Glen East, and Scotty King.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to one of the following organizations: First Baptist Church-Building Fund 12190 Hwy 605, Gulfport, MS 30503, or Seashore Highlands- The Green House Home Memory Support, “THE SUNDAY FUND”. 12170 Highland Way, Gulfport, MS 39503.
