Edith "Joan" Keller

Edith “Joan” Keller, affectionately known as Mawmaw Bear, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the age of 75.

Joan was born on March 8, 1947 in Biloxi where she was raised on “The Point” and remained a longtime resident of the Coast. She was happiest when sharing me with her family. Her selflessness to her family and those around her, was unlimited. Nothing made her face light up more than sitting on her front porch watching her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, other family and friends coming for a visit.

For many years she was a devoted servant to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She devoted herself to helping others at home and services required out of the country to continue her devotion to the church. Her life was an example of the bible verse: “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Ephesians 4:32

Joan is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gayle Emile Keller “Pawpaw Bear”; by her parents, Alice and Jacob “Elisha” Miller; brother, Richard Miller; by her sisters, Louise Firth and Cecelia Miller; and by her grandson, Danny Keller.

Survivors include her sons, Tony Keller, Scott (Ginger) Keller, Kevin Keller, Sr. and Glenn Keller; sisters, Genevieve Delahoussey, Doris (John) O’Shaughnessy and Grace McDonald; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews in which she loved and touched deeply.

Funeral service will be held Monday, February 27, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
