Louise Hicks

Ellen Louise Hicks (Nana) 99, who resided in Ocean Springs, MS for 56 years passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Greenbriar Nursing Facility in D’Iberville, MS.

Ms. Hicks was born on November 8, 1926, in Greenville, MS to the parents of Edison Henry Lindsey and Genevieve Lindsey. She graduated from High School in Greenville, MS. Her first career was also her longest with the US civil service at Greenville AFB after graduation until moving to Columbus, MS where she worked at Columbus AFB. She worked as a purchasing agent at Columbus AFB before going to work at the base commissary. She worked there until moving to Ocean Springs, MS in 1970. She continued working in the commissary system, where she rose to the title of Store Manager at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. After retiring from civil service at Keesler AFB in 1987, she then worked for NAF at Keesler AFB in inventory control and later contracting before retiring for good in 2003. Her hobbies included making ceramics, making jewelry and watching New Orleans Saints football. Her favorite time of year was the Thanksgiving/Christmas season.

Ms. Hicks was proceeded in death by her father, Edison Henry Lindsey (1965) and her mother, Genevieve Lindsey-Pace (1957).

Ms. Hicks is survived by her son, Michael Hicks; daughter-in- law, Kathleen Hicks; grandson, Christopher (Dr. Aasia Ferdous) Hicks; and great-grandsons, Ihsan and Illyas Hicks.

A service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs. Friends may visit one hour prior. At a later date, Ms. Hicks will be laid to rest in Greenville, MS with her father.
