Elsie McCrory Couturie

Mrs. Couturie was born May 28, 1932 in Tunica, LA to Linden McCrory and Nealie Wells McCrory. She retired as a nurses aid from Ocean Springs Hospital. Mrs. Couturie was an avid reader, sometimes reading a whole book in a day! She loved gardening, crocheting, making counted cross stitch gifts for her loved ones, watching birds, fishing and caring for others. She especially loved her family and spending time with them.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick Vorhoff; her second husband, Edward Couturie; her parents, Linden McCrory and Nealie Wells McCrory; her sister, Violet Schaub; her brother, Phillip McCrory; and her stepdaughter, Anita Couturie.

Mrs. Couturie’s survivors include her children, Cheryl (Victor) Christian, Joseph (Pat) Vorhoff and Charles (Sheila) Vorhoff; her stepchildren, Edward “Butch” Couturie and Jacqui (Kenny) Blanton; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many more nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones!

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made in Mrs. Couturie’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the Autism Foundation.

Funeral Services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 12:00 pm. Friends may visit from 11:00 am until service time. A private burial will be held at Bayview Memorial Park in Pensacola, FL.
