Ennis Seymour passed away on October 11, 2026, at the Biloxi VA Community Living Center. Born on November 6, 1948, he was the youngest of three children and the only son of Ferrell Louis and Janie Dean Seymour.

Ennis proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and later worked as a joiner at Ingalls Shipbuilding. His commitment to serving others continued long after his military service through his lifetime membership at the Mark Seymour VFW Post 5699. Every Tuesday, he could be found mowing the grounds, helping with building maintenance, or assisting with renovations. He quietly gave his time and energy to the post and to the fellow veterans who meant so much to him.

In 1974, Ennis married Carol Jean, the woman who would share his life for more than five decades. Their marriage brought together not only two lives but also a family. Ennis opened his heart to Carol’s four children and raised them as his own. Together, Ennis and Carol built a life filled with love, family, and the simple routines they cherished. Through life’s ups and downs, they remained side by side, often spending Friday nights playing bingo together.

Ennis was a kind man who loved his family and animals, especially his beloved dogs, Beau Beau and later Maggie. He enjoyed working in the yard and was a simple man who found happiness in life’s little pleasures. He loved a good hamburger and had a way of judging every restaurant by the quality of its burgers. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting on the back porch of his beloved family home, known as the Old Place, with his faithful companion at his side, enjoying a beer with family and “watching the grass grow.” To Ennis, those quiet, ordinary moments were among life’s greatest treasures.

Ennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Carol Jean Seymour; his father, Ferrell Seymour; his mother, Janie Dean Seymour; his sister, Glenda Burnham; and his brother-in-law, Ruben “Junior” Burnham.

He is survived by his four children, Melanie Webster (Jody), Matthew Blanchard (Ja’Net), Monica Birchfield (Pete), and Tracy Seymour (Leslie); 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Joyce Previto; and a large extended family, including countless nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved cousin, Tim Carpenter and wife Brenda, and his lifelong friend, James Spencer and wife Sara, all of whom held a special place in his life.

Ennis will be remembered for his kindness, his love for family and animals, and his dedication to his fellow veterans. His family will forever cherish the memories made at the Old Place, the Friday nights spent playing bingo with Carol, and the countless everyday moments that, to Ennis, made life worth living. His legacy lives on in the family he loved and in the lives he touched along the way.
