Eva Mae Magee-Sullivan, 78, of Gulfport, MS, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Gulfport.
Born on October 17, 1946, in Collins, MS, Eva was the daughter of Evelina Nelson and Samuel Booker. She graduated from Carver High School, continued her studies at Prentiss Institute, and later attended the University of Southern Mississippi.
Throughout her life, Eva worked for Neco, Gulf Coast Apparel, and the Harrison County Youth Court Shelter. She was also a dedicated Girl Scout leader for more than 20 years and a devoted Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. A gifted seamstress for more than 60 years, she shared her talents with family, friends, and her community.
Eva had many joys in life, including sewing, teaching Sunday school, collecting donations for the homeless and taking and organizing pictures. She especially enjoyed caring for her family, watching wrestling, westerns and Judge Judy. She was deeply rooted in her church and faith community, always giving her time and love to others.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Harold Sullivan, and her parents, Evelina Nelson and Samuel Booker.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Faith Antonia Sullivan and Carol Nessie (Warwick) Mays; her beloved grandchildren, McKinley, Olivia, Madyson and Ava; her great-grandson, Kaison; her step daughter, Joycelyn (Raymond) Clark; her step grandchildren, RayRay, Damien, Thaxton, DJ, Jackson, Turi, Luka and Coco.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Lanier and staff at Fresenius Kidney Care in Gulfport, Memorial Hospital, Driftwood Nursing Center, Vital Caring Home Health, Tulane Medical Center, Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church, Bonnie Adams and Evelina Nelson Grandchildren Group Chat and for their care and support.
Services will be held at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Friends may visit 12:00 pm until service time. Interment will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens in Long Beach, MS. A repast will follow at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Eva will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her service to others and her love for her family.
