Flora Mae Harris

Flora Mae Harris, age 96, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025.

Flora was married to the love of her life, Bernie, for 45 years. Following his passing, Flora moved from Memphis, Tennessee to Gulfport Mississippi, where she enjoyed sharing life with her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Flora was her grandchildren’s greatest fan. She attended more baseball, football, and soccer games than she ever imagined she would. Her car was always full of children, baseball bats, football pads, and soccer balls. Flora loved traveling with her family for baseball and soccer tournaments, always cheering on her “boys” and their teams.

Flora’s greatest joy in life was being with her grandchildren, Andrew and Justin, helping them with school, sports, travel, and sharing her life lessons. They were her heart. When she became a great-grandmother, she adored watching her “greats”, Hayden, Harris, and Piper, run and play.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Harris Rose (Mark); two grandsons, Andrew Rose (Gabrielle) and Justin Rose (Ashley); and three great-grandchildren, Hayden Rose, Harris Rose and Piper Rose, all of Gulfport, Mississippi. She is also survived by her beloved niece and nephew, Patricia Gray (Bill) and Larry Johnson (Joe) of Houston, Texas.

Flora was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Harris; parents, William Edgar and Allie Howard Patten; sisters, Allie Ruth Johnson and Helen Smith; and brother John Bill Patten.

Services will be held at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport, Mississippi on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Friends may visit one hour before service. Burial will be on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Harris family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to First United Methodist Church, 2301 15th Street, Gulfport, Mississippi 39501.
