Florence H. Bellais, age 90, a lifelong resident of Biloxi, MS, went to join her Heavenly Father on January 29, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents Lucien (Blanc) and Evelyn Hollier, her loving husband George of 65 years, grandsons Walter E. Ross, III and Christopher Mark Ross. Survivors include her daughters, Sonya Kifer, Georgia (Johnny) Dominick, grandsons, John August Dominick and David Joseph Dominick, great-grandsons, Sgt. Mathew George Ross and Cade Parish Ross, great- granddaughter, Sonia Maria Ross and great-great-granddaughter, Maddison Leveaux Ross. Mrs. Bellais was very active in Mardi Gras. She reigned as the first queen of Les Cavaliers in 1957 and as queen of Young Matrons in 1969. She and her husband were active in Merrymakers and she was an active member of the Elks Lodge 606 ladies' auxiliary. She retired after a lengthy career in banking and re-entered the workforce at the request of Bishop Howze when the Biloxi Diocease was formed. She was an active member of Nativity BVM where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was active in the Cursillo movement and worked numerous teams. She was a member of a prayer group for over forty years. Florence was very active in the community. She headed the March of Dimes for South Mississippi, was named Outstanding Businesswoman of the Year from the Biloxi Business and Professional Womens' Club and numerous other awards. She loved to travel; some of her favorite places were the Holy Land, Saltillo Missions, Hawaii, New York, Canada and Puerto Rico. Pall bearers will be Johnny Dominick, Lou Askin, David Dominick, Cade Ross, Steve Delahousey and Matt Boney. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Sacred Heart Building Fund, 870 Howard Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39530. Visitation will be on Monday, February 4, from 9:30am until 11:00 am, with an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial, all at Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral. Burial will follow in Southern Memorial Park. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
