Frank Tom Barras, Sr., age 86, of Gulfport, died Saturday, December 7, 2013 in Gulfport. He was born in Biloxi and was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Biloxi. Mr. Barras served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he received a Purple Heart. He retired from the City of Biloxi as an equipment operator supervisor after 37 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Marie; daughter, Delores Fayard; and three sons, David, Louis, and Frankie Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Socorro Barras; three daughters, Deborah Barras, Barbara Fayard, Patricia Hagood; three sons, Jerry Barras, Roland Barras, and Robert Barras; and 18 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road, Gulfport. The funeral follows at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with interment following at Pine Ridge Gardens, Gulfport with U.S. Army honors.
