Frank Gordon Stoeffler, Sr. age 63, of Saucier died Monday, November 2, 2009 at home surrounded by his family.
He was a native of Palatka, FL and had been a resident of Saucier for the past eighteen years.
Mr. Stoeffler was a summa cum laude graduate of William Carey College with a Masters Degree in Special Education. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Master-at-Arms Chief after twenty-two years of service. He was then employed by the Harrison County School District as a Special Education teacher at North Gulfport Middle School.
As a Special Education teacher, Gordon was an inspiration to many and was a guiding force in the lives of his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus G. Stoeffler and Mary Martha Wright Stoeffler; and a brother, John W. Stoeffler.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Lenora "Kitty" Stoeffler; a son, Frank G. Stoeffler; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Lewis; grandson, Richard G. Lewis; and granddaughter, Rebecca Lewis all of Saucier and granddaughter Chloe Stoeffler of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Mary Stoeffler of Atlanta, Ga; and Teresa "Teri" Dew and husband, William "Chip" of Palatka, FL; two sisters-in-law, Jan Stoeffler of Palatka, FL; and Glenda Dowdy of Atlanta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The visitation for friends, family, and other well wishers will be Friday, November 6, 2009 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with military honors and concluding at 7:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road in Gulfport.
