Fred Hill

Mr. Fred “Leon” Hill Sr., age 77, of Biloxi passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

Leon was born on May 3, 1946 in Biloxi and was raised on Point Cadet. He worked as a shrimper and as a rigger at Ingalls. He also was a bus driver for Grand Casino and a bus driver for St. Martin School District for 25 years. He loved driving the school bus. He called all the students at St. Martin his kids.

During his spare-time, Leon enjoyed throwing darts, watching Blue Bloods, playing on the tablet with his grandson and spending time with his family. He enjoyed bar-b-ques, sitting outside and going to the beach. He loved the Gulf Coast. If you smelled Old Spice, Leon was around.

Leon was an avid football fan. He enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins, Georgia Bulldogs and Mississippi State. Do not talk good about LSU or New Orleans Saints, even at the age off 77, he would want to argue with you.

Leon is preceded in death by his parents, David and Matilda Hill; his one true love, Helen Hill; siblings, Matilda Rogers, Connie Guagliardo, Mae Theriot, Linda Mathieu, Turner Hill Sr., Henry Hill, Augie Hill Sr., Lawrence Hill Sr., David Hill Jr. and Darlene Hill.

Left to cherish his memory include his children, Fred L. Hill Jr., Suzanne Bates (Bubba), Jesse Hill, and Elizabeth Hill; grandchildren, Jessica Hill and Gabriel Stumph; grand-pups, Rambo, Conan, Indy, Ozzy and Bear; God-children, Heath St. Amant, David Mullen, Nanda Gardache and Timmy Mathieu; sister, Shirley Mullen; and by his sisters-in-law, Romeena Hill, Ethel Hill and Cynthia St. Amant.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at USA Health, Select Specialty Hospital, Gulfport Memorial and Dr. William Passarelli, M.D.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations in his memory to be made to the American Heart Association.

Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi. Friends may visit two hours prior. Interment will follow at D’Iberville Memorial Park.
