Frederick “Freddie” Boyd Yost was born on November 16, 1938, in his grandmother’s house in Prichard, AL. He went home with Jesus on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
Freddie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and Great PawPaw “GP”. He will always be in our hearts.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Frederick “Freddie” Yost, III and Mary Boyd Yost; and his brother, Charles “Charlie” Ray Yost.
Freddie is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Sheila; his sons, Jason (Cyndie) and Alex Yost; and his daughter, Bridget (Adam) Houlihan. He was grandfather to Damion, Don (Ashley), Kylie, Sienna, Zach, Libby, Logan, Monica (Brian) and Stevie (Ronnie). He was “GP” to Jirzee, Kenzie, Kenley, Drew, Guy, Silas, Gypsy, Cambria and Lief.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish family in D’Iberville and a charter member of Knights of Columbus Council 9094, where in healthier days he was active in many areas. One of his fondest memories was as Vocation Chairman. He not only raised funds with council members, but also arranged visits to St. Joseph Seminary in Louisiana, taking young men from sixth grade up to tour the campus with a seminarian and enjoy a picnic lunch.
Freddie worked for over 42 years at Rex Distributing (Budweiser) in sales and draft maintenance.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D’Iberville on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until mass time. A graveside service will follow at D’Iberville Memorial Park. A gathering will follow at the St. Martin Community Center on Lemoyne Boulevard.
