Frederick Anthony Thornton

Frederick Anthony Thornton Sr., age 55, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017. Fred was loved, admired and respected by everyone who knew him. He will be truly missed but death will not part us from the love he had for his family or the love we all had for him. I feel so overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support that has been shown to our family over the last month. Fred may be gone from this Earth but he will never be forgotten. I have had the privilege of spending the last 20 years loving and being loved by the most amazing man the Good Lord has put in this world. I am proud, honored and blessed to carry the name Lisa Thornton. Fred will live on not only in my memories but in the hearts and memories of his sons, Frederick Jr and David Charles, Sr, their mother, Vicki Vandawalker and her husband, Randy. He has also created a lot of special memories with Rochelle Michael, the daughter he loved like she was his own. From these 3 children we are blessed with 10 grandchildren, Breanna Marie, Gabriel Anthony, David Charles, Jr., Dylan Garrett, Anysha Renia, Delilah Lynea, who touched our lives deeply in the 90 days she was with us, Troy Michael, Caleb Andrew, Alyssa Grace and 3 week old Jordan Carl, who Fred was so excited to meet. Fred left this world in our home surrounded not only by his family, but several people who are special to us both and the love he so freely gave to us all. He was welcomed into Heaven by so many people that I could never list them all, but they include his parents, Charles and Kathleen Thornton; grandparents, Bud and Alice Thornton; his most favorite person in life, his Aunt Winifred Fest; his cousin, Fletcher; and his sister Alice. His memory will also live on in more people than we will ever know. Some of these include, Randy Wescovich who has been a true blue friend for over 40 years and the whole Wescovish/Hanson family accepted not only Fred but also me into their midst. I also feel the need to mention 3 other men who were an important part of his life, his cousin, Chuck Fest and two people he loved like his own kids, his nephew Adam Thornton Sr and his “adopted” son, Jorge Tovar and their families. I am going to stop here because if not I am going to fill the whole front section of the Sun Herald. Just know if he touched your heart or your life you also probably touched his. If Fred touched you and loved you, please honor him by loving each other in spite of all life’s B.S. Calm seas and smooth sailing my sweetheart. You were, you are and always will be deeply loved. The family has decided to honor Fred’s Memory “Thornton Style” with a celebration of his life on Deer Island on Saturday, July 29, 2017, which would have been his 56th birthday. Details to follow. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge.
