Garland J. Moran

Garland J. Moran, 82, passed away after a sudden illness on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Garland, his father and brothers had a country music band for over 40 years known as “Garland Moran and the Night Travelers”. He had a passion for music, and he shared his talent with many local musicians who currently are Nashville stars.

Garland attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lizana and shared his talent by singing and playing the guitar in the choir. He was associated with Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home for over 24 years.

Garland was a 4th degree Grand Knight with the St. Ann’s chapter of the Knights of Columbus #9958. He faithfully and diligently served the Lord and selflessly helped anyone in need.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Olige and Edna Moran; his brother, Robert “Gayle” Moran, and his baby sister, Barbara Moran-White.

He is survived by his dear love, Jackie Franklin; his sister, Glinda (Jerry) Gartman; his brother, Perry (Debbie) Moran; and his sister, Sherry Rutland. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He will be dearly missed by all that were blessed to have known him.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the O’Neal Road location of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 31, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport where friends may visit one hour prior to the mass.  Interment will follow at Finley Cemetery in Gulfport.
