George E. Emile, Sr.

George E. Emile Sr., 86, passed away peacefully Friday, May 13, 2016. He was born in Biloxi and a lifelong resident of the coast. He retired from the Biloxi Fire Department and Ingalls Shipyard Fire Department. He was a man of few words, but had a big heart of gold. He would do anything to help anybody if he was able. In his younger years, he enjoyed knitting cast nets and going out on the pier to throw his net to catch some mullet while his kids manned the crab nets. Into his later years, he still enjoyed going out on the pier and catching a mess of mullet. The family has many fond memories of those days. He also enjoyed spending time at the Biloxi Elks Lodge playing cards with his Elk brothers. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was very proud of all of them. A special thanks to our sister Cindie and her husband, Jamie, who cared for our dad in their home. They nursed him through the last several years sacrificing a great deal so he could remain with his loved ones and never be alone. A special thanks to Hospice of Light for making this transition so much easier for our family. He is preceded by his parents, Toby Sr. & Marjorie Emile; sisters, Catherine Anderson & Gloria Madsen; and brothers, Jimmy Emile Sr. & Billy Emile Sr. He is survived by his daughters, Sandi Dubaz of Vancleave, Sharon (Don) Langham of Vancleave, Connie (Pat) Firmin of Vancleave, Cindie (Jamie) Griffin of Ocean Springs, Sherry Emile of Mobile; sons, George (JoAnn) Emile Jr. of Biloxi and Wayne (Angie) Emile of Ocean Springs; brother, Toby Emile Jr of Biloxi; 13 Grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren,; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations to Biloxi ‘s West End Hose Company #3 Fire Museum, 1046 Howard Ave., Biloxi, MS 39530. A Fireman’s Funeral Service, as well as an Elks Service, will be conducted at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Burial with Military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
