Gerald Salvatore “Jerry” Rich, born June 4, 1937, went to join his Heavenly Father on April 4, 2016.
Gerald was a proud U.S. Marine, a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs, MS and a graduate of University of South Alabama. He worked for many years at Ingalls Shipbuilding. Gerald was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Pascagoula, MS and a devoted family man.
He is preceded in death by his son, John Anthony Rich; his grandson, Benjamin Terrence Hardy; and his siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn; his daughters, Catherine “Cat” Hollon, Coco (John) Lizana and Dana (Ben) Hardy; his grandchildren, Jordan, Andre, Leo, Blake, Joy, Logan, Shaylee, Bella and Brooklyn; his sisters, Marie (Paul) Chandler and Mary Rich; close family friend, Mary Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Light, Daughters of the King, Rev. Charles Hawkins, Bruno Schroeder, Linda Healy, all of the members of St. John’s and all of our friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 3:00 pm followed by a scattering of his ashes at St. John’s Memorial Garden. A reception will follow at the church’s parish hall.
In keeping with his love of animals, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Humane Society of South MS, 2615 25th Ave., Gulfport, MS 39501 or to St. John’s Episcopal, 705 Rayburn Ave., Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
