Gerald Lee “Gerry” VanPelt, 84, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.
He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 5, 1942, to Charles and Kathyrn VanPelt. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in mechanical engineering and was employed by Dupont for 30 years. Gerry also served in the US Air Force and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam.
Gerry is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his spouse, Nora K. VanPelt; his children, Dean (Molly), David (Lynn), Douglas (Natalie) and Darin (Whitney); grandchildren, Brett (Susanna), Quinn (Ann Marie), Courtney, Brandon, Remy, Wyland, Booker VanPelt and Cole and Blaine Thompson; great granddaughter, Audrey Grace VanPelt; and a sister, Barbara Parker.
Visitation will be Friday, July 24, 2026, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann Catholic Church in Lizana at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. with military honors by the US Air Force.
