Geraldine "Jeri" Mallette

Geraldine “Jeri” Shoemaker Mallette, 84, of Vancleave, MS, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in Mobile, AL.

Jeri was raised in Bendale, MS, with her three sisters and brother. She attended Broome School and enjoyed playing basketball. On March 30, 1963, she married the love of her life and best friend, George Errol Mallette, with whom she shared 39 years of marriage.

Jeri drove a school bus and also drove a Toni’s Chips truck before retiring from the Maintenance Department at MGCCC. She loved her family fiercely and cherished spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She especially enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time on the houseboat. Jeri was also a wonderful cook who took great pleasure in cooking for others.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, George Errol Mallette; her parents, Singleton and Estelle Shoemaker; and two infant granddaughters, Brianna Sanderson and Dawn Thrash. She was followed in death just two days later by her daughter, Stephanie Posey.

Mrs. Mallette’s survivors include her children, Melanie (Harold) Sanderson and Chris (Brandy) Mallette; her grandchildren, Robert (Jessica) Sanderson, Faith Sanderson, Amber (Jason) Hamilton, Cade (Samantha) Posey, Chelsea Elizabeth Mallette, Tyler Mallette, Jaden (Christian) Kell, Austin (Chelsea Eura) Mallette, and Jordan (Kyle) Rice; 15 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Glenda Fay Whittington, Janet (Clifford) Musgrove, and Sharon Goff; her brother, Larry (Lydia) Shoemaker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeri was loved deeply by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Jim Ramsay Road in Vancleave on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery.
