Gloria Marie Quin Wall, age 84, of Gulfport, Mississippi, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 16, 2025.
Gloria was born on June 27, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana and was the only daughter of Charles “Honey” Preston Quin and Mildred Marie Sandifer Quin of Osyka, Mississippi.
Gloria made a profession of faith in Christ as her Savior as a young child and was a member of Osyka Baptist Church until she moved to Gulfport, Mississippi. She attended Osyka Public Schools and graduated from Osyka High School in 1958. Gloria then attended Southwest Junior College in Summit, Mississippi before marrying her high school sweetheart, Earl Brewer Wall, Jr, on September 4, 1959. The newlyweds moved to Gulfport, Mississippi where she spent her early years as a wonderful homemaker, dedicated wife, and loving mother to their two daughters. She later taught preschool at Willene Wallace’s Kindergarten and kindergarten at First Baptist Church Preschool. Gloria recognized her love and gift for teaching, so she completed her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in May of 1978 and a master’s degree in August of 1980, both from the University of Southern Mississippi. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she began a successful teaching career with the Gulfport City School District. During her years in the public school system, she taught at East Ward Elementary, West Elementary and Pass Road Elementary Schools until her retirement in May of 2000. She was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma international professional society for women educators. After retirement, Gloria enjoyed traveling around the United States with her husband, Earl, while visiting family and many of the state and national parks across the country in their camper.
Gloria was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Gulfport, for over 65 years and served the Lord through many ministries of the church including teaching Children’s Training Union, volunteering in Vacation Bible School, serving in the Baptist Women’s Missionary Union, attending and teaching Sunday School, and singing in the Sanctuary Choir. She loved using her musical talents of singing and playing the Dulcimer to serve the church and her local community.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Honey” Preston Quin and Mildred Marie Sandifer Quin, and her grandson, Ronnie Neil King, Jr.
She is survived by her husband and sweetheart of over 68 years, Earl Brewer Wall, Jr; two daughters, Robyn Marie Wall Eldridge (Gordon) of Sanford, FL and Patricia Renee Wall King (Ronnie) of Gulfport, MS; three grandchildren, Gordon Scott Eldridge, Jr (Taylor) of Sanford, FL, Kara Renee King Necaise (Patrick) of Pass Christian, MS and Courtney Marie Eldridge Horner (Eric) of Sanford, FL; and three great-grandchildren, Levi James Horner, Calla Aurelie Eldridge and Noelle Marie Horner all of Sanford, FL.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, at First Baptist Church Gulfport, MS with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Jimmy Stewart will be officiating. A graveside service and interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens 8910 Carl Legett Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. Pall Bearers will be Ronnie King, Gordon Eldridge, Patrick Necaise, Scotty King, John Al King Jr, David Vierling. Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wall family.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations. First Baptist Church- The Church Building Fund, 12190 Hwy 605, Gulfport, MS 39503 or Seashore Highlands- The Green House Home Memory Support, “The Sunday Fund”, 12170 Highland Way, Gulfport, MS 39503.
