Hardy O. Pope

Hardy O. Pope, age 85, of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

Mr. Pope was born in Gulfport and was a lifelong resident. He was a member of the Baptist faith. His favorite pastime was fishing. Hardy was a retired heavy equipment operator and previously served in the Army National Guard. He was a graduate of Gulfport High School and was a member of the Gulfport Commodore Basketball team.

Hardy was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Jeanette Pope and his wife, Lee Green Pope.

Survivors include two daughters, Anna Jean Pope and Melissa Leigh Pope Quigley; a grandson, Shelton Randall Pope; and a great-grandson, Sage Williams.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 1726 15th Street, Gulfport. A private burial will be held at a later date in Evergreen Gardens in Gulfport.
