Harless Eugene Lott, 74, of Gulfport, MS, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Born on October 27, 1951, in Gulfport, Eugene was the son of Hartsell A. and Sarah “Marie” Lott.
Eugene will be remembered as a man of few words, but many talents including hunting, fishing, painting, Christmas tree farming, and being Santa Claus. He was a Vietnam War veteran where he earned many distinctions for his contributions and heroism in aerial operations.
Sp4 Eugene Lott enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 1970. His major command was CSC 1st Bn, 8th Cav, 1st Cav Div, FORSCOM. He was a door gunner deployed to Phu Bai, Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Medal, Air Medal, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Air Medal (2nd-4th Award) Sharpshooter (Rifle), 1st Class Gunner (81mm). He was honorably discharged in January 1974.
His biggest accomplishment, however, was his family. He took his role as a husband, father, and Pop Pop very seriously. He will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harsell A. and Sarah “Marie” Lott and his brother James “Jimmy” Lott.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beth Clark Lott; his children, Sarah Nelson (Charles), Steven Lott (Bris), and Daniel Lott (Kirstin); his grandchildren Clark Lott, Marigold Lott, and soon to be granddaughter Ellie Nelson; his siblings Johnny Lott, Randy Lott, and Gary Lott; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, July 13, 2026, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the O’Neal Road location of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15452 O’Neal Road, Gulfport. On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, a visitation will begin with a Rosary at 11:45 a.m. and continue until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 12:45 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gulfport. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
