Harold Dean Cates

Harold Dean Cates, 90, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Wednesday, June 29,2022.

Harold was a native of Los Angeles, CA and a long-time reside of Ocean Springs. He graduated from John C. Freemont High School in Los Angeles, CA, Class of 1948. Harold spent 28 years in the United States Air Force and retired in 1978. He was an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor and an Aircraft Inspector. Harold was in the Air Force through the Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. After the Air Force, Harold spent 16 years as Chief Supervisor at Keesler for Aircraft Maintenance through Civil Service. He was a member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church for 30 + years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Cates and Alta Mae Cates.

Harold is survived by his wife, Emily June Cates; his children, Tirsea Botts and Harold “Hal” Cates, Jr.; his grandchildren, Robert Fletcher, Sean Fletcher, Bianca Emerick and Olivia Cates; and his great-grandchildren, Sophia Fletcher, Conner Emerick, Luke Bixler, Lillian Fletcher, Elena Fletcher and Jared Harris.

Funeral Services will be held at Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Ocean Springs on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 11:00 am. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will be at Biloxi National Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
