Harold J. Maynard “Harry J” was born in Biloxi on October 17, 1944, and passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 24, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Maynard and Rita Ransonet Maynard. He is survived by his sister, Laura Allen (Larry), two nieces, and a nephew. He was a graduate of Biloxi High School. After high school, Harry joined the Air National Guard. Upon his return home, he was employed at Ingalls Shipbuilding. The majority of his working years were spent as Harbor Master for the city he loved, Biloxi. He enjoyed a lifelong love affair with seafood, golf, Bud Light and ice, NASCAR, The Crimson Tide, and The Saints. He could often be seen at the Fleur De Lis Club on a Friday night wearing an Alabama hat, sunglasses, and with a new cigar to chew on. He lost his lifelong home in Hurricane Katrina but found a new home among family, where he became “Paw Paw Harry” to many. His laugh and childlike spirit will be sorely missed. He attended Sacred Heart Parish.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit 1 hour prior. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
