Hazel Langlinais Pitalo, age 100, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on February 16, 2026.
Hazel was born in Youngsville, Louisiana, to Obey and Isabelle Langlinais and moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, at an early age. She later made her home in Ocean Springs, where she spent many years in Gulf Hills surrounded by family and friends.
She was married to George and together they shared more than 60 years of life, love, and memories. The two were inseparable, and their partnership was the foundation for their family. They established, owned, and operated Medical Arts Pharmacy which is still a thriving family business today.
Hazel had a lifelong love for hobbies of all kinds. Whether it was ceramics, painting, sewing, or crafting Christmas décor, her creativity seemed endless. She loved life and embraced every chance to explore. She traveled often – sometimes with George, sometimes with friends – and whenever someone mentioned a trip Hazel was ready, passport in hand, eagerly heading to the next destination. She especially loved family trips to the mountains, where she looked forward to crisp weather and always hoped for snow.
Hazel was once honored as Queen of Young Matrons ball. She loved attending social gatherings, meals at Mary Mahoney’s, and parties hosted by Mardi Gras organizations, including the Revelers and Gulf Coast Carnival Association; remaining active in these circles for many years.
Above all else, Hazel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Obey and Isabelle Langlinais; her beloved husband, George Pitalo, Sr.; her daughter, Lynn Creel; her sons-in-law, Gregory Hebert, Lance Creel, and Russ Jordan; grandchildren Carley and Brittany Jordan; and great-grandchild, Liam Pitalo.
Hazel is survived by her children, Cynthia Hebert, George “Jordy” Pitalo, Jr. (Darlene), Susan Muzslay (Matt), and Penny Davis (Billy); her grandchildren, Tara Hebert Allen, Greg Hebert (Rachel), Trae Pitalo (Julie), Dax Pitalo (Bree), Ryan Pitalo (Allie), Jeff Creel, Cliff Creel, Chance Davis (Ashley), and Ashley Davis; 13 great-grandchildren; along with many others whose names were lovingly held within the family circle.
A devout Catholic, Hazel’s faith was an important part of her life and guided her with grace and strength. Maw-Maw Hazel leaves behind a family whose lives are richer because of her warmth, grace, humor, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 502 Jackson Avenue, Ocean Springs, Mississippi. A Requiem Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. The family would like to extend special thanks to Teresa Vice; Dorothy, Cari-Ann, and the Saad Home Health Care Team for their compassionate care and support.
Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Hazel Langlinais Pitalo.
