Helen J. Ames

Mrs. Helen J. Ames, of Biloxi, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the age of 94.

Mrs. Ames was a longtime resident of the MS Gulf Coast. She was born on August 8, 1929 in Harrisonburg, LA. She graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College- Jefferson Davis and Jackson County Campus with Honors in Personnel Management Supervision, Institutional Housekeeping and Restaurant Management. During her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, playing cards, visiting with family and friends, camping and fishing. She will be deeply missed by all who have known her.

Mrs. Ames is preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Ames; parents, James C. Duke, Sr. and Elle Mae Crawford Cornelieus; daughter, Janette Schneeweis; and by her siblings, JC Duke, William Duke and Francis Penfield.

Survivors include her children, Ronnie Schneeweis of Fullerton, CA, Richard Schneeweis of Anaheim, CA and Robert Schneeweis of Anaheim, CA and Christine Ames of Biloxi, MS; many grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and by her beloved cat, Gin Gin.

The family would like to extend gratitude to all who cared for her, to Deaconess Hospice of Biloxi, and a special thank you to Nikki and Kat.

There are no services scheduled. Mrs. Ames will be placed beside her husband at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota.
