Fashion and decorating were among her favorite hobbies.

A devout Catholic, Helen’s faith was of the utmost importance to her. She worked diligently to spread the Word of God and helped to start the second chapter and the first on the Gulf Coast of Magnificat, a women’s ministry. She was also a member of the Carmelite Order, whose members she adored. Helen was additionally a member of the L’Avenir Social Club and the Tuesday’s Coffee Club.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Paul Gutierrez, Jr.; her mother, Margaret Trebotich Sekul; her father, Peter Sekul; and her brothers, Anthony Sekul and Louis Sekul.
