Mr. Henry Anthony Oliver, Sr., age 85, of Biloxi entered eternal life on Monday, April 4, 2016. He was a lifelong resident of Biloxi and D’Iberville. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a longshoreman and was a member of I.L.A. Local #1303 from 1960, retired 1989. He was a member of the V.F.W. #2434 in Biloxi and was a former Commander. He was a lifelong member of the French Club where he served as president. He was a former softball coach and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Mr. Oliver loved God and his family. His love, faith, and wisdom will carry on to many generations. He loved to cook, dance, and spend time with family and friends. He enjoyed his swing, the sunshine and being on the water. Providing for his family was always most important. Mr. Oliver is preceded in death by his parents, Saul (Lanell) Oliver and Bridget (Whitey) Melancon; brother, Harold Oliver, Sr.; and son, Saul “Tony” Oliver, Sr. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Dean Hebert Oliver; siblings, Sonny Oliver and Peggy Barattini; children, Julie Oliver, Henry (Inge) Oliver, and Janine Oliver Dirkin; grandchildren, Kelleigh Reynolds, Saul Oliver, Jr., Yvette Nicole Naquin, Mark Dannells, Donald Dirkin, Jr., and Darren Dirkin; great grandchildren, Kassidy, Devyn and Colette Reynolds, Kaitlyn, Brianna, Joshua and Judith Oliver, Jerry and Nicholas Naquin; and many beloved nieces and nephews; also Tommie Jean Hargrove. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to visit from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to be made to American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, PO Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN 56007-8001.
